Primprose? Yes, however, I would recommend this book for adults, as the writing style, topics, vocabulary, etc. seems to be geared towards this audience.
Review
With Lent ending, I thought I would post this Lenten devotional now…
I first learned of this book when I attended a Lenten retreat last year, where a priest who was leading the retreat had recommended this book to everyone. I ordered the book soon afterward and couldn’t wait to read it the following year (now this year) for Lent.
When I received the book, I didn’t realize how thick it was for a Lenten book, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. I also noticed that the design of this hardcover book seemed to be well thought out, with its pages on the thicker side, nice font selections, as well as good line spacing, and page layout/formatting. There are black and white photos throughout the book, and interspersed are four inserts of glossy pages with photos in color. There are also maps at the end of the book, which show you where the station churches are located.
There’s a reading for each day from the start of Lent through Easter week. Each day’s readings opens up with a large black and white photo of the day’s Roman station church, followed by what the readings for the day are, as well as a reflection on the readings, and/or other topics related to them. It also touches upon some themes, some of which made me stop and think, and want to take notes. The final page for each day is dedicated to describing the station church and providing historical information on it, as well as smaller black and white photos of certain details of the church.

If, like me, you love art, photography, and your faith, I would definitely recommend this book for Lent. The only thing I would change about this book is to have all of the photos in color, rather than mostly black and white, because there are some details of artwork, statues, etc. that were described in the book that may be more difficult to see in black and white photos. All in all, though, I really enjoyed this book and I would love to go on this pilgrimage and visit all of the station churches one day!
