"Reading has made many saints." –St. Josemaria Escriva

About

“Don’t neglect your spiritual reading. Reading has made many saints.”

–St. Josemaria Escriva

Primprose was founded as a book review site in honor of my parents, who both instilled a love for reading in me at a young age. It is because of this love for reading that I now have one of my bookcases full of spiritual (Catholic) books, and I have resolved in this new year to read through as many of them as I can.

Follow along with me as I read through my little library and review each book afterward. This site will consist mainly of Catholic and faith-based books, as well as fiction, but other types of books will be reviewed from time to time as well.

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light; but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.”

–Matthew 6:22-23

The site was also founded based on the above notion that God should be our focus. The aim, therefore, is to inform readers how “prim” (taken here to mean “good and proper for the soul”) books may be in terms of their content, and what they may be consuming through sight.

Why the name “primprose”?

“Primprose” is a portmanteau of “primrose” (one of my mother and I’s favorite plants), “prim” (taken in this context to symbolize something good for the soul), and “prose”.

More information

This site is still a work in progress and may go “under construction” from time to time. As with reviews in general, mine may also be subjective, and that is why I aim to include readers’ reviews as well!
